New Developments at Canninghill Piers - Revealed

Located at the southern end of Singapore, in what is one of those quirky localities known as "the Little Thailand", is the upcoming Canninghill Piers development. Located alongside a wide body of water, Canninghill Piers promises to be an open-air marketplace and retail space, with a central focus on food and beverage service. It is hoped that this new development will provide a much needed boost to the already busy Singapore tourism industry, whilst creating a new focal point for the area's commercial activity. This article will briefly discuss the Canninghill Piers Floor Plan and its potential impact on the local economy.

The Canninghill Piers Floor Plan encompasses three major segments. The first, and most prominent, is Canninghill Terrace, which is to be the main selling space of the development, housing a variety of retail outlets, bars, restaurants and eateries. The second segment, known as Canninghill Village, will feature retail shops and restaurants within small concrete blockades, whilst the third and smallest, called the Canninghill Waterfront, will contain retail shops and a cafe. This integrated set-up, which includes an outdoor market and a series of open public spaces, will allow for more flexibility when it comes to the mix of tenants and the commercial viability of the development.

The Canninghill Piers apartment building has been designed to maximise the opportunities of retail and service use. Its ground floor design, designated as the Retail Hub, will contain a series of high-rise shop-style outlets, as well as a series of hotel reception desks and serviced apartments. At ground level will be two residential towers comprising up to 700 apartments, offering residents the chance to live in a development that offers both great living conditions and proximity to important amenities. Located on a large public platform, these apartments are combined with retail outlets and restaurants to create an integrated development comprising of both retail and service roles. These retail roles will include Canninghill's famous Independent Grocers, which will occupy a number of store locations.

Although situated on a large public platform, at ground level will be a series of canopied apartments, which will feature their own entrance and a separate entrance into the Retail Hub. This will connect the apartments to the Canninghill Pier and a host of other public amenities, including the Canninghill Train Station and the Park Royal Train Station. The Canninghill Pier itself will have two levels, each featuring retail stores and a restaurant, while the Canninghill Square will provide a connection between the public amenities and Canninghill's famous resident's centre, which will feature retail stores and restaurants. The integrated hub concept, by which the retail and service elements of the buildings are linked, has been built on previous successes in this part of London, such as the Canninghill Village, and several of its neighbours.

The floor plans of the Canninghill Piers condos are based on the previous success of these Canninghill Village projects and the use of a 'green' strategy to reduce the overall effect of development on the environment. This has led to the use of sustainable materials, such as sustainable timbers, which have been sourced through a sustainable building programme, and sustainable materials, such as glass block, which have been created to require little energy input for use as a roofing product. Furthermore, when it comes to landscaping, sustainable elements are used throughout the Canninghill Piers project, particularly in relation to retaining the natural plant life. Throughout the floor plans of the Canninghill Piers project there will be links to the nearby town of Chiswick and the River Walk.

The residential units that will be built at Canninghill Piers will boast some distinctive features that make them stand out from other moorland developments. For instance, each unit will be built with a raised deck around the edge of the swimming pool area, providing an area for relaxing and socialising during the evenings. Further, the building will feature a trellis that runs along the edge of the deck, allowing visitors to take a step from their luxurious Canninghill Suite to the tranquil River Walk. The town centre of Canninghill is also set to undergo major improvements with the introduction of a new shopping centre, which will feature a number of luxury shops and restaurants, and a new cinema.
